In this video, I'm unboxing All-Clad D5 cookware.

I'll, give you my initial thoughts and explain how it's different from the other All-Clad collections.

Let's get started.

Hi I'm Andrew with Prudent Reviews, where we help you find the best products for your home.

This is the first video in a mini-series where I'm unboxing, every All-Clad cookware collection, including D3, D3, Everyday, Copper, Core, HA1, G5, FusionTec, and Essentials.

In.

This video I'm unboxing, the D5 collection, specifically the 12-inch frying pan.

This is one of All-Clad's, most popular collections, and it has some unique features that I'll show you in a minute.

Before.

We get started, All-Clad sent me this pan, but this is not a sponsored video and they are not paying me to make it.

Without further ado.

Let's open this up.

Let's take a look at the box.

So.

We got a nice white box with a little bit of green accents.

A picture of the pan, some information, where it's made, the construction, which I'll explain a little bit more in a minute.

So.

The back has a little bit more information.

It talks about some of its key features, provides a nice little diagram.

It has some instructions on care and use.

Now.

Let's open this up.

Alright, so the pan is wrapped.

Let's take it out of the wrap.

Let's see what this insert is.

This just talks about the warranty and this talks about registering your product.

Joining, the All-Clad email, list.

Alright.

Let's take a look at this pan.

Some, quick facts about this cookware.

As, the name suggests, D5 cookware is made up of five layers.

This type of construction is referred to as five-ply.

If.

You look closely at the rim.

You can see the five layers.

The cooking surface is 18/10 stainless steel.

The core is made up of two layers of aluminum with a thin layer of steel in the middle, and the bottom or the exterior is 18/0 stainless steel.

The steel, core layer, diffuses heat, which makes the cookware heat up slower, but more evenly.

There are two versions of D5 cookware: brushed and polished.

This pan has a brushed finish, which gives it a modern and elegant look.

The polished version is shiny, which is a bit more traditional.

The difference between polished and brushed is purely aesthetic and has no impact on cooking performance.

However, fingerprints and smudges won't be as visible on a brushed finish.

The handles have All-Clad's classic cup shape, design, which a lot of people complain about, because the indentation can be a bit uncomfortable to hold.

However.

This design serves an essential, purpose.

It locks, the handle in your hand, so you have complete control when tilting or pouring, even if you're wearing an oven, mitt or your hands are wet or greasy.

Pots and pans with smooth rounded handles can easily rotate in your hand, which can be a major safety hazard when pouring hot liquids.

The handle also has this small bump underneath to prevent your hand from slipping too close to the heat.

This pan, and every piece in the D5 collection, has flared rims for easy, pouring.

It's compatible with all cooktops, including induction, and it's oven, safe up to 600 degrees, Fahrenheit.

From edge to edge.

The diameter of this pan is 12 inches, but the actual flat part of the cooking surface is 9.

Inches.

This pan weighs 3.25 pounds, which is above average for a 12 inch, stainless steel pan, but still lighter than All-Clad's Copper Core collection.

All-Clad markets.

This cookware as made-in-America, which is partially true., The base, which is the most important part, is made in America, but the handles and lids are made in China and assembled in the US.

This cookware comes with a limited lifetime.

Warranty that covers defects in materials and craftsmanship.

The price varies based on where you buy and which pieces you buy, but this is one of All-Clad's higher end collections.

It's more expensive than D3 stainless, G5, and their non-stick collections, but less expensive than All-Clad Copper Core.

So.

How does D5 compare to All-Clad's other collections.

I'll? Be posting videos that answer this question in more depth, but the biggest difference is the way it cooks.

Compared to All-Clad D3, the brand's most popular collection, D5 heats up slower, but more evenly, because the steel core diffuses heat.

It's, more forgiving and less responsive to changes in temperature than D3.

You're, less likely to overcook or burn your food.

If you accidentally turn the stove too high.

Copper Core, another popular All-Clad collection with an aluminum and copper core, heats up extremely fast, much faster than D5.

Because.

Copper has high thermal conductivity.

The cooking surface responds quickly to increases in temperature.

You really need to pay close attention when cooking with Copper Core.

D5 is much more beginner friendly, but you don't get as much control.

If you have any questions about D5 cookware or need help deciding if it's right for you.

Let me know in the comments below.

Although.

This is a brand new pan, I've been using D5 cookware for years and I know it very well., If you're, ready to buy, I'll link to this pan and the entire D5 collection in the description of this video.

Those are affiliate links, so I will earn a commission if you click and buy, but at no extra cost to you.
